The signing of the remarkable Good Friday/Belfast Agreement followed by 25 years of peace in Northern Ireland is truly worth celebrating. A moment to reflect & move forward. Great to see the role of the women negotiators highlighted today too.

🗳️ Today I was honoured to meet with Pat Bradley, who played a crucial role as Chief Electoral Officer in the running of the 1998 referendum on the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement.

25 years ago today a referendum on the GFA was held, after every household in Northern Ireland received a copy of the Agreement. This clip from the UTV archive in partnership with Northern Ireland Screen sees the printing of 'The Agreement' prior to issuing.

Today marks 25 years since the signing of the Belfast Good Friday Agreement.

We reflect on the legacy of the agreement and in particular the actions of our former Leader the late Lord Trimble and his negotiating team to deliver peace in Northern Ireland.

Divan događaj večeras sa kolegama i partnerima iz Embassy of Ireland, Ljubljana i Mostara. Koristeći primjer Sjeverne Irske, govorili smo o tome kako umjetnost i kultura mogu doprinijeti gradnji mostova između zajednica, povezujući ljude kako bi izgradili svjetliju budućnost. 🧵

NI’s potential for the next 25 years & how far we've come since a theme of discussions in US. I was pleased to welcome participants of 2023 The International Fund for Ireland Ambit programme. The work of community leaders will be essential as we take our next bold steps.

🎸 25 years ago today, U2 took to the stage with David Trimble & John Hume at Belfast's Waterfront Hall for the 'Vote Yes' concert to boost support for the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement.

🙌 Three days later the people of NI & Ireland said 'yes' in the referenda!

“We need to restore a government that is inclusive. If they’re divided, how can we not be divided?!”- Our inclusion & diversity workshop told us. “Nobody should walk around feeling scared” they emphasised.
