Dr Howard Ayo, discussing the state of business and Human rights in Uganda, and his recommendations are as follows;
Strengthen the scope of human rights duties under the 1995 Constitution of Uganda, especially those relating to legal person.

✔️ Corporations should adopt internal measures for monitoring & reporting on the human rights impact.
✔️ Enhance awareness -raising in business & human rights for stakeholders.Attention should be on stakeholders at grassroots level ie. Districts, cities & villages

We need to interrogate the narrative that large scale land based investments is the key to development. The narrative must be ideologically revisited to benefit that ordinary #Ugandan at grassroot level.

No protectiveness gears coupled with long hours of working with very little pay has a long lasting negative effect on the health of children working in Karamoja on stone quarries and mines.
Government needs to hold these companies countable to this.
