In this study, Granton et al. show that biofilm-associated exopolysaccharides produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa control sickness during lung infection.

Not sure how I missed this but it seems that evidence is growing for blood clots having 'microbiomes' and even biofilms (tumors also are being shown to have distinct microbiomes).
