A busy day today! 🐝

This wild nest was about 4' in height and in the cavity of a felled tree 🐝

We found one (possibly) virgin queen, and 3 sealed QCs, along with a whole nest of comb🐝

An early start to the day, and with the sun out, it's swarming up nicely 🐝

This little cast swarm had been there all night and were getting ready to leave, but they're not there now! They're in my box 😄

Earlier today, we were called out to remove this little swarm of bees from a garden 🐝

Once the queen was found, and the bees moved into the box, the rest was easy 🐝

We'll be back tonight once all the scout bees and stragglers have returned 🐝

The last few days for us have been a great morale boost, and the weather has made all the difference to the bees, too 🐝

We split an overwintered double brood colony and later found expected queen cells 🐝

With the weather being how it is, the small queens will keep the bees active while we wait to graft larvae, and replace the less fortunate emerging queens with new 🐝

We've marked and clipped our first queen of 2024 from splits made on the #Rapeseed , from an overwintered double brood colony, that gave us 4 other queens just like her 🐝
