Just refound the NIGHTINGALE at Watermead! Further from the estate & well worth my white trainers getting covered in mud! Just enough battery left to post this after lots of recordings once it started singing. Hope it sticks around…

NIGHTINGALE singing at Watermead last night, heard from my flat! 2.30-3.00 at least. Here’s some Blair Witch style footage of me out on the water-logged fields searching for it with just my phone light on low battery… 2nd for patch.

Alongside the Nightingale today there was also a LESSER WHITETHROAT & a SEDGE WARBLER singing - the latter seeming out of place at the top of a hill on arable land. Plus I saw my first 2 BROAD-BODIED CHASERS of the year here in the same spot…

One of the unforeseen benefits of using my bike for my birding this year has been finding numerous singing Firecrest locally. 14 singing birds so far this spring in different South Bucks locations, including a local garden centre! Bucks Bird News

Only able to dip in&out of the Big Bucks Bird Weekend I was delighted with a 1st for Watermead on my 2hr watch- the 2m GARGANEYS that stopped off for seconds in the pouring rain & cold wind. Best also seens: 4 SWIFT, YELLOW WAGTAIL, SEDGE WARBLER pair.

❌ No sign of the Nightingale at Watermead b/w 13.30 & 14.30, but 4 LESSER WHITETHROATS singing & a fairly early SMALL HEATH on the wing - a single last yr being the only record of this sp. in my time here…
