In February, my story was included in the NYS BPHA Legislative Caucus's People's Budget. Poughkeepsie is already experiencing flooding and threats to our water supply because of how climate change is impacting the Hudson River. We need the full #BuildPublicRenewables Act in the NY budget!

I am very sad about a lot of things at the moment but I’m re-reading this text and the evolution / victory of a four-year campaign to #BuildPublicRenewables is not one of them. Proud to know so many of you.

For 2+ years I've been fighting to pass the #BuildPublicRenewables Act. BPRA is a massive win for the working class! Now NYPA will be able to build, own, and operate renewable energy projects. This will create union jobs, lower utility bills, and help us hit our climate mandates.
NOW: The State Senate and Assembly are debating “the Big Ugly,” a gigantic budget bill that combines bail reform rollbacks, charter school expansion & #BuildPublicRenewables .

I'll have more to say in the coming days, but we won #BuildPublicRenewables because we brought in as many people as possible into democratic decision making spaces. This gave our comrades OWNERSHIP over the work. It's our victory to share.

Even though the budget contains #BuildPublicRenewables it also contains a lot of terrible policy, including bail roll backs and charter school expansion. I'm proud of our SIOs for voting no.
