Had a great day at the Electron Microscopy Facility Université de Lausanne learning FIB-milling on the Aquilos 2!

Hopefully preparing some nice lamella for cryoET.

If you're interested in nuclear pore complexes and how we used in situ cryoET to figure out how cells ensure their correct orientation, come visit me at my poster P2038 (B315) at 12:15 or come to my talk in the CryoEM and CryoET subgroup at 5:15 (Room 253B)!

We updated our comparative study of G0 & proliferating fission yeast nuclei. The in situ cryo-ET is redone with cryolamellae + K3-GIF + 3-D classification. Canonical nucleosomes are rare in all cell types! Congrats to Zhi Yang, Shujun Cai, et al. biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

A little over 2 months left until delivery of the Microscopy & Spectroscopy for sample prep to @mpibp. Since last week, the room has a floor. And field compensation cable ducts. Still Deutschland-Tempo but 🐌 > 🐢.

In our new preprint we imaged actin filaments in very fast moving Plasmodium falciparum sporozoites. We shed some light on the mechanism of gliding motility and find unexpectedly long and large actin bundles in the cytoplasm and nucleus!
