Have you ever noticed that aquarium jellyfish are always kept in round tanks? Theyโ€™re called kreisel tanks and theyโ€™re designed to keep a current flowing so the jellies can swim freely without getting stuck in any corners or filters.

Soooโ€ฆthis is a snail. This species doesn't have a shell, it uses its foot as a flappy flappy & has a long mouth like an anteater. Heteropods live in the open ocean, and a friend told me they're curious & follow you around like puppies โค๏ธ Vid: bit.ly/2U7FzBA

White-spotted Jellyfish going for a spin at the North Carolina Aquarium in Ft. Fisher. the brown areas of their body tissue are full of symbiotic algae that help feed the jellyfish with glucose as they photosynthesize?

ELECTRIC JELLY! Look at this stunning creature! The red is the stomach, the hanging middle bits are the sexy sexy parts, & the muscles are so thin and delicate they bend light like a prism and shimmer an ethereal green.

Todayโ€™s Daily Jelly is a pink & purple root-mouth jelly topped by a baby paper nautilus octopus. These babies ride jellies, using them for transportation, protection, and may occasionally nibble the jellyโ€™s food. Giddy up little octo!

Dear all; this place has been an amazing home for me, & I still love it dearly. But as changes continue to roil this space, I've decided to take a wait-and-see approach. I won't be posting as much. For more regular ocean content, follow here:

If you look closely you can see a bunch of baby Cassiopea jellyfish in brown and blue-- even though they're so tiny, many of these guys are over 2 months old!
