The most important thing we can do to reduce GHG emissions is replace cars and trucks (including EVs) with walking, biking, transit and freight rail/ships. As an ancillary benefit, this will save tens of thousands of lives and prevent millions of injuries a year.

Breaking: the first purchaser of Beetaloo gas will be none other the NT Government, which has entered into a binding agreement with fracker Tamboran. This takes state capture to a whole new level.

Fracking the Beetaloo will generate 1.2 billion tonnes of GHG emissions.

Canada is almost the worst GHG emitter in the world on a per-capita basis, behind only Saudi Arabia. The US has done a better job at reducing emissions than us. Combined with the fact that our economy has shifted largely away from manufacturing and industry, this is shameful.

While we expect the permafrost region to be a significant GHG source as the planet warms, we know little about the region's current net GHG balance

Justin Ramage et al. have just done that, a full analysis of sources and sinks of CO2, CH4, and N2O fluxes for 2000-2020

Destruction of natural habitats is the main driver of biodiversity loss. Deforestation causes the vast majority of global climate change impacts due to land use change (10% of global GHG) and poor land management leads to soil degradation-UNEP

'Bamboo is our best chance to slow climate breakdown: it meets the material needs driving human GHG emissions (food, construction, bamboo based bio-concrete & bio-plastic) and can protect soils and store CO2 for 100 years.' - Let's test this hypothesis. Start by growing bamboo 👇

Read this! The NDP’s ‘CleanBC’ plan will shrink our economy by $28 BILLION by 2030 & reduce wealth per person by $4,500/yr. It’ll set back living standards by 17 years!
Yet it still won’t meet GHG targets & will make 0 difference to global climate. theorca.ca/commentary/opi…

this is a useful--and alarming--summary. as i feared, this UCP govt is only pretending to take action to reduce GHG emissions; it's mainly kicking the can down the road

Without actual measurement of emissions, the federal government's Safeguard Mechanism isn't worth the 📜 it's written on.

In its current form, it's like a game of 📌 the tail on the 🫏 - a blind stab in the dark of where we're at, while being derided by our international

Fossil fuels account for over 75% of global greenhouse gas emissions ⛽

Even with government-backed carbon credit markets, GHG emissions keep rising!

Fortunately, at Rowan Energy we are offering a path to net zero 👇
