I'm sorry: U.S. officials admit they don't have an strategy; their effort to revive JCPOA collapsed; the informal deescalatory understandings also collapsed; & Office of the Special Envoy for Iran's security clearance has been suspended & is mysteriously on leave. Let's have some humility here…

The current extremely dangerous events in the Middle East are one of the results ( not the only one) of the decision of the and the to block negotiations on the resumption of the . There was a chance to avoid it. The West opened the way for this to happen. Shame!

Deeply frustrating that some pieces highlighting the threat from Iran skip past the fact that the JCPOA was probably the only bit of Western policy with significant impact, until it was trashed without replacement by the previous US administration.

💯— And Biden’s DESTRUCTIVE administration has continued Obama’s (3rd term) foreign policy — bringing back ALL the architects of the “Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)…led by Robert “Hamas” Malley

The Democrats are to blame for cozying up to RADICAL Islamists.

9⃣ In fact, the very first thing Biden did in office was to let these sanctions expire as a favor to Iran to try and get back into the JCPOA.

That clearly failed, but he's still giving Iran massive sanctions relief at the UN.

Chaser: the 2023 expiration Biden allowed was baked into the JCPOA when Obama agreed to it in July 2015.
This whole scenario has been brewing in plain view BECAUSE OF the JCPOA - which revoked previous actual UN sanctions on Iran's ballistic missile program.

Not so, JCPOA withdrawal occurred in 2018 but enrichment above 4% didn’t start until Biden was elected. [see the red and green lines]

Your reminder that the JCPOA allowed for the expiration of the UN arms embargo in 2020 and the UN missile embargo expire in 2023.

Iranian drones and missiles are free from UN sanctions.

Following Trump’s failed foreign policy and senseless withdrawal from the JCPOA, under Biden’s leadership — UK, Jordan and Saudi Arabia united to shoot down Iranian drones.

This may be a tricky question, but: On what kind of response Netanyahu was counting on when he derailed Obama's JCPOA, encouraged Trump to get rid off one of the their top generals, or attack one of their embassies?

No. Stop it. He withdrew from the JCPOA, which was disastrous for multiple reasons, including the fact that it has directly contributed to <gestures at everything>

I quickly wrote something up about Iran's attack on Israel--it all goes back to Barack Obama's nuke deal (the JCPOA)
