Sun-Jin Yun says, “Even though peoples’ awareness is very nice, but I think politics and the political action and the daily actions are very important. So in that sense, there is some gaps… So we need to change everything, I think. Not just our actions, institutions and laws.”

If “Defund the Police” is such a necessary ‘slogan’ when do JD’s plan to create legislation in support of it. Last I checked they are FEDERAL representatives not activists.

I do find it odd that they didn’t use their platforms to promote the act though.

We can’t let Congress forget the names of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and so many Black Americans who should be alive today. I told Cosmopolitan: the Senate must pass the Act. And all of us have a responsibility to be anti-racist. cosmopolitan.com/politics/a3380…

Today we remember George Floyd and the hundreds of people killed by police brutality AND commit to reimagining public safety. The House did its job; the Senate must pass the George Floyd Act.

Change is a long hard slog but it’s coming.

I’m very glad that the House once again passed the Act as a first step to protect Black lives and end police brutality. The Senate should get rid of the filibuster so Mitch McConnell doesn’t veto this powerfully important bill too. bostonglobe.com/2021/03/04/nat…

On this day one year ago, George Floyd was murdered by a Minneapolis police officer. We stand with the Floyd family in calling for the Senate to pass the George Floyd Act as a crucial step in long overdue changes to the racist systems that kill Black people.

We can’t bring back the countless Black Americans who have died at the hands of the police.

But we can honor their memory with action.

I voted yes on the Act to enact meaningful change and reform the culture of policing in our country.

The Act has the power to meet this moment. It has specific rules, like banning chokeholds. It is forward thinking, by setting national standards. It has true accountability, creating investigatory powers and a national database.

Since George Floyd’s murder one year ago today, there have been hundreds of officer-involved deaths in the U.S.

To stop this, we need to bring transparency and accountability to policing.

The George Floyd Act does that. We need to get it signed into law.

One year ago today, George Floyd was murdered and over the last year we’ve continued to see Americans losing their lives to police brutality. Today we recommit to changing and reforming policing in America. Now is the time to pass the George Floyd Act.
