1- the NICU team knew how important all the little things were. I watched them constantly get up and down to take care of the little ones and beeping machines, in between attending deliveries. On top of all of that, they tolerated my husband’s new dad jokes,

September is - and my lovely twins spent 138 days at the Brigham and Women's Hospital NICU in Boston. Can’t say we enjoyed our stay at hotel hospital - but I owe everything to the wonderful nurses, doctors and specialists who took care of my little girls of steel!

The 2019 season ended on 11/2, and 20 days later, Ray was born 3 months prematurely. I left the Iowa Association of Track Coaches clinic on 12/6 with the news that Ray had sepsis and meningitis. To have my beautiful boy attend the first XC meet of the 2020 season is a miracle. UI Stead Family Children's Hospital

ERAS statistics for neonatology fellowship applicants in 2020 showed only 18 self-identified as Black or African American and 15 as Hispanic, Latino or Spanish origin (out of 258). Representation matters.

my husband Anthony DiGiorgio, DO, MHA has always been my hero, but saved me and my sanity through it all. He wasn’t scared by the noises and the monitors, all part of a normal day for a trauma neurosurgeon. He has been a relentlessly loving father
