Thrilled that James Keating has reviewed Taking to the Field for @austpolicyhistory. James is one of the most innovative new scholars in Australian women’s history, so this make it doubly exciting.

I loved Jane Carey's 'Taking to the Field'. Among much else, it's a sharp account of gender and class in the 20th C workplace, a critical history of scientific social reform, a study of precarious academic labour, and a riposte to received wisdoms about women in the sciences.
