It's important not to assume fasting. Moreover, those not fasting may still observe Ramadan in other meaningful ways.

Many fast and continue their duties. They might appear quieter. Let's support them by being flexible with schedules and break times.

Let's support Muslim healthcare professionals during this sacred month. Offer flexible breaks and quiet spaces for prayer. Respect varying levels of participation and avoid assumptions about fasting. Plan staff gatherings post-sunset.

Can I ask my Muslim HCP colleagues questions about Ramadan? Yes, it's absolutely fine to ask questions.

Just be mindful to avoid ones that could be perceived as microaggressions, like 'so you don’t drink water?' or 'why aren’t you fasting?'
