🌊 Waves do NOT need to be huge for #ripcurrents to form. Learn how to spot one BEFORE you jump in the water:
🌊 Usually rip currents are found where waves aren't breaking
🌊 Water is often darker in a rip current
🌊 Look for debris, foam, or seaweed moving away from the shore
Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. Dangerous shore break can throw a swimmer head first into the bottom causing neck & back injuries. The most likely time for strong #ripcurrents to occur is a couple hours either side of low tide.
