HAPPENING NOW: hundreds of students + adults gathering at the KY capitol in protest of SB150, which, if the veto is overriden, stands to ban gender-affirming healthcare, limit classroom discussions of human sexuality & limit the rights of trans students

Today, my speech on the hatefulness of Kentucky SB150- the most harsh anti trans healthcare bill passing in the country. People were being arrested in the House gallery who were protesting the veto overturn.

The kids who are directly impacted by #SB150 can’t vote yet.

They can’t run for office yet.

It is our responsibility as adults to vote & run for office with those kids in mind, because this Commonwealth belongs to them too.

It belongs to all of us.

Notable result in Kentucky in a competitive seat. Democrat Adrielle Camuel, who opposed SB150, the trans ban in the state, wins the 93rd House Seat.

She stated she would work to repeal SB150.

Her opponent supported the ban.

Trans bans do not win elections.

I spoke about this letter on the Senate floor in March.
The media was present & yet the mantra that it’s not happening kept being parroted. Beshear vetoed SB150 and its ban on gender reassignment surgeries for minors, even though we knew they were happening.

The Kentucky legislature overruled Gov. Andy Beshear's veto of an anti-trans bill SB150. It bans teachers from any discussion of sexual orientation and forces trans students to go to the bathroom of their sex assigned at birth, among other measures.

20 protesters were arrested.

Danville teacher accused of raping teenage boys. This is the same Danville that allowed students to protest SB150.

#BreakingNews : JCPS Board votes unanimously to table implementation of anti-trans Senate Bill 150! While it is unclear what the final JCPS policy may be, almost all JCPS Board members voiced opposition to SB150 & a deep desire to protect trans students.

Governor Beshear’s politically-driven veto of SB150 is insanity.

#BreakingNews : JCPS Board votes 5-2 to adopt a policy that implements anti-trans SB150 but creates a legal loophole that utilizes a Section 504 Plan that would allow trans students to create a plan respecting pronouns & allows restroom use consistent with their gender identity.

Ky Tonight always bringing up SB150 as a “controversial issue”. It passed with bipartisan, super majority votes in House & Senate, and polls at 70% plus— nothing controversial about it in KY.

Now there are consequences for #SB150 . Bullitt County will not provide mental health support for children without express written permission.
