The first photograph we know of was taken in 1826 or 1827. So, in the grand scheme of history, we've only had the ability for a small amount of time. Luckily, we do have photos of some historic figures you may have never seen before.

1794 dated half dollar. This is the oldest US coin in the collection of the The Hunterian. Its engraver, Robert Scot, was born in Jacobite occupied Edinburgh on 2 October 1745. Scot designed many of the USA's earliest coins.
