Royal Navy & Royal Australian Navy personnel at the IJN arsenal yard in Tokyo Bay after the surrender...I think their message, scrawled on the hull of a now redundant Japanese midget submarine is about as clear & welcome as one can get.

Beautiful scenery but as we travelled along itโ€™s hard not to forget for every mile we traveled, itโ€™s estimated 400 prisoners of war died to build this railway. It is still known today as the Death Railway.

I know was on Saturday, but I had the honour of meeting Lt Cdr Ian Fraser VC in 2001, and he gave my lad this signed photo. Ian Fraser was an absolutely smashing bloke, very unassuming and humble..

My fathers Land Rover badge from when he served with the 26th battalion of the Royal Indian Attillery in the Sumatra in 1945. As a young officer, he trained the Indian soldiers, but never spoke of it, or his time out there.
