You donโ€™t learn leadership from a textbook.

Youโ€™re not born with it.

Leadership is developed over a lifetime.

Which means thereโ€™s always room to improve.

Do, Learn, Grow.

Iโ€™m thinking of students of first responders and essential workers. Any work time will not (should not?) be a priority. How are we allowing learning to be independent enough for access for these students? Also, giving these parents a pass to breath.

A6 I hope educators can share all they learned. Prior to the closure I think there was a lot of paralysis due to the overwhelm of teaching. So many colleagues have worked incredibly hard during this time to learn new skills and new ways of thinking.

Camille Jones A7: Students reflect in what they see from us. I show that I have passion and I deeply care about them and how what we do impacts their learning.

A5: Sooooo important!! We talk A LOT about how things feel to each of us, or others. I share examples from my own life & history. Veterans Day discussion turned into questions about the Holocaust. It was important to stop & talk about it. We learn by sharing.

A8: We really need it to start with the principal. If they see the importance it will roll down to others. We can't teach students unless they are in the prefrontal cortex and yet many Ts put their Ss into their amygdala. We need more T training.

I think there is a difference in taking actions that are anti-racist as teachers and dismantling the system of racism in our schools. The first is a start in service to the other.

A6 New principal started Student of the Month for all grade levels, all content areas. I also use Instagram for strong efforts, growth, kindness. & classe culture. We get likes from around the world & in class. Truthfully, I shout it out in class & we all applaud.

A8 If we don't step up as leaders, how can we expect our students and our colleagues to? I try to embrace being a 'lead learner' every day and step up where I can for district and school level leadership. Model reflection, and commit to 'outgrow' yourself

If you havenโ€™t tried using American History Tellers or Lindsay Grahamโ€™s American Elections: Wicked Game for U.S. History , it is *chefโ€™s kiss*. I tell students to draw me a picture while listening and then, I create a discussion board to talk about it.
