We were told that everyone who wanted to take the MCAT would be able to test. We were told we’d receive 10 DAYS NOTICE of cancellation for our exams. My exam was scheduled for 1/21/21 and I received this email on 1/12 at 6pm. #WaiveTheMCAT Students for Ethical Admissions MCAT

I emailed the Dean of Admissions of my med school to encourage the board to #WaiveTheMCAT .

It took 5 minutes.

A good friend just tested positive before his upcoming MCAT on Thursday. He is desperate to take it but will not risk the lives of others because it goes against all he believes in. He canceled it ASAP. His punishment should not mean being held back a year. #WaiveTheMCAT

I have gone back and forth on necessity and implications of #WaiveTheMCAT and making it online. However, I cannot stand organizations effectively weaponizing their definition of “diversity” and “equity” to justify an unjust process. It is a shame how MCAT has handled this.

Disabled students are desperately needed in medicine.

Patients deserve to speak to somebody who can empathize with their issues. Disabled patients speak to docs who dismiss very common problems- and those people as docs could empower an entire population #waivethemcat

#WaiveTheMCAT : I did not take the MCAT to get into medical school. I held a leadership position and was admitted to SSP (the AOA of DOs). My board scores were fine. Financial motivators are not acceptable to disadvantage URMs in a pandemic. Do better. We need them.

We just learned that MCAT is only offering a PARTIAL refund to students who test positive for COVID and have to miss their exam as a result. Even then, this is only if you provide them with proof of a positive test. Horrifying.
