Apocalypse Now π§Wake Up Australia! Nephew lost work because of ill health early May
Applied #youthallowance to cover the months of surgery and rehab
June 3rd #centrelink sent a message saying application received, all docs uploaded
Then another message saying to resend 2 docs
Still waiting & no income
Bit late to the party for #RaisetheRateforGood , but wanted to share. I lived without a washing machine for two years while on #YouthAllowance . Rent was 250 a fornight and after bills/food, the laundromat cost too much
Had tohandwash my clothes and wore them until they reeked.
A one of paymemt is not going to help people on #YouthAllowance or #Newstart #JobseekerPayment . If the government continue to fight #RaiseTheRate campaigners it dooms more people to #poverty .
No point enrolling people into TAFE or uni even if it IS free if they can't afford to feed and house themselves while they study.
