Reflecting on how much yesterday’s flight meant... sitting next to a retired #USAF pilot now flying for #UAL & there for the memory of his father’s squadron in #WWII ... a bucket list item for him to be on a #DDay75 airplane... and a chance I’ll never miss nor take for granted.

Very sad to hear we've lost George Chow. George was an anti-aircraft gunner and a D-Day veteran from Victoria, BC. He was a part of the first Cdn gun crew to shoot down a German plane. I was honoured to meet George in Vancouver in 2018 and again in Normandy during #DDay75 .

I was privileged to meet D-day veteran Stanley Northeast today. He came ashore in a 'sea of blood' and fought through France to cross the Rhine in 1945.

Today we honour the bravery of all those like Stanley who left their loved ones behind to fight Nazi barbarism. #DDay75

In 2005 I went to D Day celebrations with a couple of mates. One was a neighbour to L/Cpl Tom Packwood 25 plt 2nd Batt Ox & Bucks Light Infantry. He was on glider 91 capturing Benouville Bridge. Tom holding wreath. We chatted with him and his pals about the operation. #DDay75
