So, under the floorboards while renovating their house a friend found an unusual silver plate 19th combination flask/sandwich box. You’ve gotta love those inventive Victorians! Now I’m way down a rabbit hole researching the names in the inscription. #FamilyHistory #HouseHistory
It took reviewing 24 maps and 35 years of tax assessment rolls, but I finally found the location where my gg.grandparents built their house in Victoria. #FamilyHistory #Genealogy #HouseHistory
This nail had been sticking out of a floorboard upstairs for 30+ years. The number of times we've caught our feet on it is unreal.
It was removed three years ago, my mam has framed it 🖼️🔨

Delighted to announce that I'll be doing 3 short presentations as part of 'All About That Place' later this month - on my Kin Edar #OnePlace Study ; #HouseHistory sources for Northern Ireland; and what the Irish Census can tell us about buildings. #OnePlace #AllAboutThatPlace
Looking over a fantastic bundle of original docs for my house that I’ve just picked up from the solicitors (only took 14 months to get them!).

This aptly named Water Tower in a village near Lincoln was converted in 1996 and provides a lavish home. Built in 1903 the tank when full contained 37k gallons of water filled from an artesian borehole in a neighbouring field. #househistory . .
I am delighted to announce that I am now listed on the Family History Federation A-Z of speakers. Follow this link for more information about the talks on genealogy and house history that I offer, both in person and online:

Nearly finished with a #househistory that was once the home of the Sisters of Mercy. Found a wonderful land division map in an early 19th c. probate record with a codicil that notes a brick house on the land that the devisee was living in at the time he received the property.
My (ten minute) presentation on 'Sources for #HouseHistory in Northern Ireland', will be going live in an hour in the #AllAboutThatPlace Facebook group and on the Society of Genealogists' YouTube channel youtube.com/@SocietyofGene…
Plenty of time to watch it before Strictly 😉

I've seen some awful trascriptions in my time but this one for the 1881 census wins the prize!! 😆😵🙈 You'll be pleased to hear the person was a servant in an Inn or assistant to a 'Coffee and Dining Housekeeper'!! 🤦♀️ #familyhistory #genealogy #househistory #househistories
Beyond chuffed with the latest testimonial from a client in London! ☺️😁 #househistory #househistories #happyclient

Then & now...just about recognisable! High St, Castle Donington, home of Mary Ann Minton, my 3x great's sister (on right of 1st pic). Her brother Thomas was the family historian, to whom Mary wrote (as requested) with children's birth dates #HouseHistory #FamilyHistory #Ancestry
