Learning more about #NarrativeMedicine and I am grateful to all those who share personal stories here on Twitter. These provide insight into human experiences, beyond what statistics alone reveal. Especially important, given how often our society tends to put numbers first
When Timothy H Wideman asked me to write a piece for McGill Programs in Whole Person Care I was honored, and with a theme like Transformation, I knew I had to write about my dear friend Tiffany Tiffany Christensen and how our relationship absolutely transformed me. I hope you’ll read it 👉🏻 ijwpc.mcgill.ca/article/view/3…
Our patient passed away yesterday.
We *could* remember her as the elderly woman with pneumonia in bed 4.
Instead? We’ll remember her as the “patient, generous, and quiet” Harlem-based designer who was most proud of raising 4 successful men in the 1960s.

And, because it is #InternationalDayOfHappiness , I am remembering beautiful patients’ stories. Because #hope exists.

Hey #MedTwitter & fans of #NarrativeMedicine & #bioethics , I’m putting together a curriculum for a bioethics book club at my school, and I’m wondering what readings caused you to change your mind or see a new perspective about an ethical dilemma in medicine and/or healthcare!
There are just a few places left on this ground-breaking live workshop in Dublin.
We'll be combining #NarrativePractice as taught in the UK with #NarrativeMedicine as taught at Columbia University, with participants from both sides of the Atlantic.
