Loved today’s story in Interzone Digital, ‘Pongo’, an immersive and moving seafaring tale of primatology, language, and grief by Katie McIvor. Behind a paywall, but the wall is low—€1 a month for access to the growing IZD archive and frequent new stories. ko-fi.com/izd/

Angelo Bruno Jason Blahblahblah Ed Krassenstein But since no matter how credible a book is I know you’ll refute it, so here’s more:

Ecological Studies of the black swan (book 3)

Livescience . Com

Cambridge university - homosexual behavior in animals

Homosexual behavior in primates (International Journal of Primatology)

I have a MSc in primatology and so far the most I’ve done with it is make this lemur tail for a cursed cosplay 👍🏼
(someone help motivate me to actually do some more research)

Two primatology studies I find wowing?
Studies have found that the most successful alpha leader among chimpanzee packs are not the strongest or those that rule with brute strength & tyranny.
Those that last the longest know how to negotiate best & share resources among the pack.

Due to founder effect, the monkeys on Cayo Santiago have a higher rate of golden/reddish hair compared to wild populations!

Some of the rhesus macaques at the Cayo Santiago Field Station are born with a golden or blonde pelage, in contrast to the typical brown and grey. The genetic mutation that leads to this distinct coloration is nonpathological & nonlethal.
