Dorothy Vaughan was an African–American mathematician and 'Human Computer' who made significant contributions to NASA and the space program. She was also the first Black American supervisor at NASA.

#OTD in 1968 the crew of #Apollo8 lifted off from Kennedy Space Center on their way to the Moon. It was the first time humans would reach lunar orbit. On the Saturn V rocket were astronauts Jim Lovell, Frank Borman and Bill Anders.
