80 years ago today, Christmas Eve 1941, no 44 (Rhodesia) Squadron RAF Waddington received the first Avro Lancaster bombers to enter service with the RAF.

Brilliant to see RAF Waddington’s Survival Equipment Flight awarded the Adrian Ray Memorial Award 2021 to recognise ‘an outstanding and practical engineering contribution to Flight Safety’ for their innovative adaptation of aircrew gloves to be touch screen.

On Tuesday 5th of March, RAF Waddington hosted Air Vice-Marshal Flewin CBE (AOC 1 Gp) and Air Vice-Marshal Appleton (AOC 2 Gp) whilst they conducted their respective AFI’s on Station. This was AVM Appleton’s first Annual Formal Inspection as the new AOC 2 Group.
