So long to Count Floyd, Guy Caballero, and a host of other memorable comedic creations. A truly great and inspired comic legend.

Try not to be fooled - especially by crappy AI attempts. When people show me these obvs fake images I say, 'Ok hot shot - show an actual image from the specific episode this is allegedly from.'

My layout from penultimate Tracey Ullman Simpsons short Family Therapy (MG47). Wes Archer and I animated this at the end of January 1989 (I think!) - aired 4/23/89. Appeared in theaters with War of the Roses, released 12/9/89, a mere 8 days before The Xmas Special ...

37 years ago today I was flying from LA to visit my parents in Silver Spring, MD -- carrying my unfinished scenes for the 1st Simpsons TU Short 'Good Night Simpsons.' I set up a crude DIY animation 'table' and was able to get things done, even as I was running out of animationโ€ฆ

My first rough thumbnail envisioned panning over to The Simpsons starring at the Scrabble board as the clock ticked. I dropped this in favor of starting on Maggieโ€ฆ

My first choking drawing - - for Family Portrait (MG25) - aired 3/6/1988. Probably drew it mid February 1988. And hereโ€™s my latest, drawn a couple weeks ago. It wonโ€™t be the last time I draw thisโ€ฆ

John Swartzwelder In the scene in Moe's office, there is a brief shot of a poster advertising 'Szyslak Vs. Oakley' and 'Kirkland Vs. Silverman', referring to then-executive producer Bill Oakley and Simpsons directors Mark Kirkland and David Silverman ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ.

Also from THOH 13, immediately following that cut gag: animation for 'Play us some PIANEE' - Paul Wee and I had fun with this, trying to get Homer playing with believable accuracy -
