I have always wanted to see this bird, now I finally got the chance to, after two attempts the Western Subalpine Warbler gave great views in the blackthorn at Portland this afternoon.

Fulmars checking out prospective nest sites at a gloomy but very atmospheric Durlston Country Park this afternoon.
Video taken on phone.
Fantastic opportunities currently for anyone with superior skills to mine 🀣

We were joined by Winter S and Aspen Silvaana monitoring farmland birds. They started the day with a raptor handling masterclass with a Short-eared Owl. 5 Corn Buntings and lots of Yellowhammers followed. These two young ladies were very impressive and great to work withπŸ‘

Looks like a greyer Golden Plover to me Aspen.
Ive not sorted my photos from yday yet, but a BoC shot showing part of the underwing which shows the AGP was greyer with a darker crown, more contrasting supercilium, a darker spot behind the eye and it was smaller Aspen Silvaana

Aspen Silvaana Dorset Bird Club Terry Elborn Ian Lewis Peter Moore Hi Aspen, I'm no expert but just going by what I seen this morning the bird in your photo does not quite look right. On the AGP there was a definite gap between the cap and bill, a distinct neck ring . It may have been the light conditions but the breast was lighter too.

Agreed - definately a Black-necked Grebe with that peaked head, black well below the eye. Slav Grebes have a flatter head profile, less rounded body & a more clean-cut facial pattern with the black not going so far below the eye Aspen Silvaana @alfiebirder Terry Elborn
