Today I heard Lord Melvyn Bragg speak in Parliament on the contribution of the arts to the economy and society.
Under a The Labour Party government, I will do everything I can to make sure that the creative industries have what they need to do what they do so well - create joy.
A big thank you to Imperial College London for hosting our lunchtime concert yesterday.🎶🎵
Note to Arts Council England: the glee emanating from ‘official’ channels about English National Opera’s move to Manchester (deliberately) masks a stark & heartbreaking scenario facing highly trained musicians for whom relocation will condemn them to leave the industry because there IS NO OTHER WORK.
We Victoria String Quartet and friends have had a brilliantly productive few days hosted by the wonderful and hospitable Marchmont and we can't wait to hear the final recordings Helen Leach 🎶🎶🎶🎶
Something for everyone who loves live music! Join us at Venue 60 aka Canongate Kirk this #edfringe23
Membership of The Music Group of Manchester during the 1980s remains one of my most treasured chamber music memories. Left to Right: Benedict Holland (violin), Richard Muncey (viola), Ursula Smith (cello), John Thwaites (piano), Leon Bosch (double bass). Photo: Tom Bangbala
