What a glorious work for the cello, and the orchestra!

A very special moment for me, conducting the world premiere performance of David Earl's Concerto for double bass with Ruan Baartman as soloist with the ECPO.
This marks the moment when I begin to hand some of my outstanding double bass performance projects to the next generation.

It was such a pleasure to be in good musical company and to help Grant McLachlan's Song Cycle onto the third instalment of it's wonderful journey. It is a really great composition.

Allan Stephenson's Burlesque for double bass with small orchestra is the equivalent of Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra - except on this occasion we are treated to a brilliant journey through the double bass's capabilities as solo instrument.

I've spent the last three days conducting the Chineke Foundation's Junior Orchestra - the best behaved youth orchestra I have worked with in 40 years

At Cape Point, 9261km from London! A different continent with different, refreshing perspectives. It's great to be here for a short while to recharge my batteries and to lick my wounds after yet another negative Arts Council England, South East project funding application decision.

Conducting the KZN Philharmonic orchestra in Durban last night. We performed Grieg and Schubert in the first half and Hyeyoon Park | Violinist gave a scintillating performance of Tchaikovsky's violin concerto after the interval.

I'm in Durban to conduct a concert with the KZN Philharmonic. Hyeyoon Park | Violinist will perform Tchaikovsky's violin concerto, and in the first half we will perform Grieg's Holberg Suite and Schubert's 5th Symphony.

It is always gratifying to receive good reviews, but this is a particularly perceptive and touching review of my CD recording and performance at Wigmore Hall with Rebeca Omordia.
