Last week, the Secretary of State for Defence, the Rt Hon Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP MP, visited #Plymouth and the HMNB Devonport. He got a firsthand experience of the new Commando Raiding Craft (CRC) with 47 Commando (Raiding Group) Royal Marines and saw 42 Commando Royal Marines's Maritime Interdiction capability.

Night 1 of the fabulous National Fireworks Competition hosted by Plymouth City Council in Plymouth. 6 teams competing over 2 nights, each team firing 500kg of explosive. Note the boats in the Sound to get a sense of the scale. Hoofing. And 3 more tomorrow!

Submarine hunter HMS Northumberland has sailed nearly the distance around the world, racking up 23,043 miles on the high seas since the start of the year, locating Russian units and protecting UK waters.

Great to see Royal Marines from Plymouth’s 42 Commando Royal Marines trained in HMNB Devonport active on HMS Trent deployed around the world. Demonstrates how Plymouth city Plymouth City Council is a fundamental part of the Royal Navy and underpins the delivery of UK maritime strategy.
