Mabley Green is the last Hackney Buzzline park which has had an eco makeover in recent years. 1 ha of long grass, hills, over 500 trees, and an edible garden now provide nature recovery habitats. 8 bee, butterfly and moth species have been recorded there. We're finding more.

Daubeney Fields is the smallest Hackney Buzzline park with the highest natural habitat v mown grass ratio. GiGL has records of 8 bee, butterfly and moth species but we recorded 14 more there last year. We're now creating a richer pollinator heritage thanks to The National Lottery Heritage Fund.

We're building the Hackney Buzzline, a pollinator corridor in London linking 4 parks. To help nature recover, we must first know its condition. GiGL tells us what we know about the parks. Today, Hackney Downs - 84% mown grass with 19 recorded bee, butterfly, and moth species.

Let the dandelions grow! They support over 50 insects species, and are a great early season food source for pollinators like bees, butterflies, hoverflies. No need to mow and ps don't use weedkiller. More: bitly.com/2FYQUhp RT if you're on board 🐝

Why it's good not to mow the lawn in spring.

A common carder bee, buff-tailed bumblebee, tapered drone fly, and buffish mining bee feeding on pollen and nectar from dandelion and daisy. All on the this month.

Gerry Tissier Met postcode gardener back in 2019. Truly effective scheme to educate on importance of street plants to provide pollinator corridors. Every borough should have this scheme. Perhaps Averil Lekau will consider this in Royal Borough of Greenwich new scheme
