In a functioning economy, people get sick and are allowed to recover.

Disabled people should be given the tools and support they need to thrive.

We need to put money into ensuring people are supported, and able to work if their disability allows.

There’s going to be a general election this year. You might have heard about it... 🗳️

But 8 in 10 disabled people think politicians are out of with their lives.

We don’t know exactly when the election will be, but one thing is clear... disabled people must not be ignored 🧵1/4

Being disabled is often considerably more expensive and costly - blue badges are amazing in ensuring parking closer etc is an option. Places revoking the blue badge parking for free is horrendous because disabled people often don’t have the other options that abled have!

Disabled people being locked away and segregated in the past is not something we should want to return to. The increase in diagnosis is an increase of understanding, not an increase of people struggling.

So Wes Streeting MP are The Labour Party now planning on banning male staff and visitors from women's wards and female staff and visitors from male wards? After all if you believe single sex spaces are safer that applies to everyone right?

Today I raised with the Mayor the extremely poor service many Dial-a-Ride users across London are experiencing

Under Khan, the number buses for the service has been cut by 63%

This service is vital to so many disabled & elderly Londoners and these problems are unacceptable ⬇️

Not enough is being done to ensure public transport across London is accessible to those with disabilities and mobility issues.

Only 5 MPs out of 650 publicly identify as disabled. The government is made up of abled individuals who have chosen to role the Minister for Disability into a combined role. We deserve better, and we won’t stop until we have better, including more disabled MPs

So if we show up a few minutes late for our UC appointments, our benefits are sanctioned, but we're expected to put up with no Minister for Disabled People for the last FIVE days and counting?

Are we so unimportant this post can remain empty for a whole working week?!

Had a fantastic time at conference and was so delighted to see all three LDDA - Liberal Democrat Disability Association amendments resoundingly passed! LDDA will continue pushing for the Liberal Democrats to be the party for disabled people 🎉

Yesterday we passed two LDDA amendments - one on expanding the climate change motion, and one on ensuring the police are trained around protected characteristics to avoid the increase of police violence for minorities.
