Update on power outages in Erie County: National Grid US currently has 1,628 customers still without power and NYSEG is now down to 2,627 customers. Our EC Dept Homeland Security & Emergency Services 🚨 is monitoring situation and assisting communities with resources as requested.
Our EC Dept Homeland Security & Emergency Services 🚨 is monitoring the situation but has had no requests for assets at this time. Our Erie County DPW crews are removing tree debris from roads once power lines have been deenergized.
A Travel Advisory is still in effect for the county.
Erie County Travel Advisory issued as of 9 a.m. today, 1/9. Damaging winds expected through tomorrow. NWS Buffalo calls for wind gusts of up to 70 mph possible near Lake Erie & 60-65 mph for region. Be aware of the risk of downed trees & power lines.

Due to the significant wind event expected for tomorrow, I am issuing a travel advisory for all of Erie County starting at 9 am. As described by the NWS Buffalo, drivers should be alert for the risk of downed trees and power lines.
