My new column on the #EU ’s complete naivety and misperception of the destructive force of Victor Orban. In a few months he will be the EU Council s leader. My interest Jacob Öberg Kim Lane Scheppele R. Daniel Kelemen Daniel Freund Jon Kyst Soren Liborius Laurent Pech 🇺🇦 Daniel Hegedus
'You should never take democracy for granted. You should always support it. And protect it.'
What an impressive spot by European Parliament
The European Parliament has just voted overwhelmingly to condemn Hungary’s ongoing systemic attacks to democracy, the rule of law and fundamental rights.
The EU Council must do whatever it takes, including suspending voting rights, to uphold the EU’s core values.
📢 European Parliament to Orban government:
'Stop attacking the rule of law, democracy and fundamental rights!'
Wide support for the report of my colleague Gwendoline Delbos-Corfield 🇪🇺💪💚

Yet another must-read piece from Dr Joelle Grogan UK in a Changing Europe >> Leaving the European convention on human rights won’t stop the boats – but it will create other problems for the UK theconversation.com/leaving-the-eu…
Ultra-rapid rule of law backsliding in Slovakia. It took Orbàn a decade, Fico does it in a matter of months. What action by Commission and #EUCO Ursula von der Leyen Charles Michel Věra Jourová?
The chief of European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) doesn’t mince her words. Far too little is done to fight corruption and crime, criticises also the EU institutions and national governments. #EPPO has very quickly become one of the most effective EU bodies, defending the rule of law
In restoring the rule of law after eight dark years of the authoritarian PiS government, is Tusk’s government in Poland (and Adam Bodnar ) more like Hercules or Sisyphus? My op-ed, on the legacy of statutory lawlessness.
