To me, this is emblematic of a BIG problem in journalism and punditry.

A *lot* of the legacy journalists come from these institutions and try to put their shoes onto the whole world rather than looking at the data more carefully.

We need to avoid being main characters.

Most of the reactions from NYT staff about Biden snubbing them don't really come off as a full-throated defense of the role of a free press as much as score-settling and the type of elitism that the paper regularly excoriates Democrats for.
