On this rarest of brilliant sunny Bank Holiday Saturdays, my neighbours' magnificent wisteria needs celebrating. It looks and smells utterly divine, wafting a heavenly scent up the street for everyone to enjoy. One of the wonders of nature!

Looking forward to this! The author's last book, 'A Scandalous Match', was a fabulous read. It was so beautifully written and entertaining, and all the meticulous Regency era detail greatly added to my enjoyment.

I love Georgian jewellery. I love diamonds. Both come together as an important element in A Scandalous Match when my actress heroine, Angelica, is given an ancestral diamond necklace by 2 very different men. Only one proves to be priceless & touches her heart 🩷

A miniature of a true gent. But is he hero or villain, or the heroine's sybaritic brother? Adore the nose (perhaps related to Ld 'Nosey' Wellington?) the cast in the eye, smug smile & carefully coiffed 'Brutus' hair. What's his name? Gervase, Ferdy or Edmund?

Lily was talking to me about this yesterday, written by the wonderful poet Clare Best . She was so struck by how important it was, and quite brilliantly done

Byron to Teresa, 1819: I did not mean to love any more, nor did I hope to receive Love. You have put to flight all my resolutions; now I am all yours; I will become what you wish perhaps happy in your love, but never at peace again.

To send to friends! Bought 10 of these charming pcs of Q. Blake's drawing of the Great Poet sitting on his Newfoundland dog, Boatswain, constant & beloved companion, nursed by Lord B as he died of rabies: 'in life the firmest friend, The first to welcome, foremost to defend'

A small patch of my Lily of the Valley this afternoon in a shaft of sun. The sweetest & most wilful of plants, they'll only grow where they choose - often in what seems a most inhospitable place, here under a yew tree in impoverished, dry soil. But the beauty, the scent!

I'm beguiled. Can I move to 60's Paris in all its seductive beauty of possibilities, danger & joy? Elizabeth Buchan never disappoints with the truth of her deeply-felt characters, lovely sense of place & delicious prose. Sophie, Hettie & Dog touch the heart & the book's a delight
