Now Jonny Archer RiverTweed highlights potential of catch rod data from #anglers to understand adult brown #trout populations. Less killing and more catch and release. Fishing stable. High recapture rate might mean trophy #trout are back and bigger #SFG109 Scottish Freshwater Group (SFG)

It’s nice to see the end point in the water temperature data we collected, that Faye Jackson et al, analysed. To where we have on the ground implementation for catchment resilience, against high summer temperature. Science at its best!

In the past 3-4 years I’ve had the pleasure of seeing and videoing many otters mostly SCENE but last nights encounter on the Tweed wins the contest for my heart🥰 James Hunt RiverTweed Suzanna BBC Springwatch
Out at the top of the Tweed yesterday with Jonny Archer starting something exciting with temperature monitoring. Despite the wet weather it was a good day of fieldwork.

After helping 6 Acoustic taggers over 3 years Matt Newton Hannele Honkanen Angus Lothian Amy Green Jessie Lilly Chris Conroy I finally joined the taggers club by tagging 90 salmons smolts! Now to tag 20 25cm+ brown trout on the lower Tweed. Just have to catch em first 😬
A successful few days of tracking smolts has been had but judging from today footage you would never guess we were tracking on the River Tweed and not in a highly eutrophic pond mid summer James Hunt Suzanna RiverTweed Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) #trackingnotslacking @marinescotland
Today I relived the joys of manual tracking smolts although my stint today wasn’t the epic journey I had on the Deveron Bogie Isla with Fearghail Armstrong and I didn’t have a canoe and gin unlike louise chavarie SCENE but the mini eggs did the trick 😂
Thanks Rebecca Lewis it was great to finally meet you in person and to join the Riverfly Partnership partnership today. I look forward to start monitoring on the Tweed! for with Suzanna, RiverTweed, Borders Forest Trust and the other volunteers! An example were collaboration is key!
