I always say that motivating my HS math students is the most challenging part of my job. I just found a boatload of ideas in a short read (the third one down) here: lieslmcconchie.com/freeresources Liesl McConchie

In recent years, I have noticed fewer & fewer students are fully engaging with Kahoot et.all. Click, then back to whatever is on the other tab. What are you seeing/doing about this?

Can you give me feedback. Many students in HS are confused by X. I'm thinking of adding something like this to my 'word' wall. What changes might be helpful?

Some hispanic students struggle with x as a variable because it has always been associated with multiplication. What do you know about this? What helps?

Well said, without dismissing the need for retrieval practice outside of the classroom, 'This Math Homework Is Driving Caregivers Crazy', by Dan Meyer open.substack.com/pub/danmeyer/p…

I have invite codes now for Blue Sky. Let me know if you need one. I decided to join a bunch of my edu Tweeps there bc the posts I follow (in X ) are buried in stuff and I end up not reading far enough to see them in X. Cognitive overload is real, folks!

According to Lane Walker: 'The most productive research-based practice I have discovered for my students is to group them in semi-permanent teams of about four students with assigned roles.' How could these roles play out in your classroom? bit.ly/48wcFS8

Math peeps: What is being done about Mathway apps etc. on smart watches during assessments (to motivate students to learn content instead of scanning it?) Is it just Apple or are there others?

My high school relies on DeltaMath to help students practice algebra and geometry because there is a video and step-by-step textual solution for every problem.  But there is nothing there beyond very basic stats.  Can anyone recommend something similar?
