The 10th Session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development #ARFSD #Agenda2030 is an opportunity for Leaders to reflect on ways to reinforce Agendas 2030 & 2063; for a more impactful future

At the Invitation of the Vice Chairpersons of the Regional Collaborative Platform (RCP), on behalf of the Chairperson United Nations DSG Amina J Mohammed, United Nations Special Coordinator for devt in the Sahel Mar Dieye will be participating in the ongoing #ARFSD2024 & RCP meetings in #AddisAbaba 🇪🇹

With a total global wealth of $500 Trillion & Assets of financial institutions amounting to $461 Trillion, we should not be struggling to finance the #SDGs through its 6 Investment Pathways; which currently need $4 - $5 billion annually, to cover the SDGs funding gap

If we must build a future that is sustainable, we must reinvent not just reforming our global financial architecture which is presently not future proof & this will require shifting from short term capital generation to focusing our resources on sustainable outcomes.

As Gramsci put it “the old world is dying; and the new world struggles to be born: now is the time of the monsters “the biggest monster being the persistent paradox of lack in a world of plenty.”

The #SDGs remains our most powerful weapon to deal with that paradox.

I’ll join other speakers this afternoon to reflect on how we can collectively reset and reposition the SDGs to deliver better for the people:

The Primacy of human rights,human dignity & Youth must be our cornerstones for rebuilding that better future.
