Great tour of DLR - English at Cologne. Amazing facilities from the European Space Agency astronaut programme, mission support of the microgravity programme on the International Space Station, multi-disciplinary research around energy, & advanced wind tunnels and much more. Big thanks to the team!

Another excellent Institute of Physics APP, HEPP and NP Conference. It was hugely beneficial as always to consult with the community and share our vision for STFC’s future. Thank you to all those who attended our town hall for your valued contributions.

Exciting results published recently by the Berkeley Lab led and Science and Technology Facilities Council supported Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument or DESI collaboration. DESI has now brought us even closer to answering some of the biggest questions in physics and there is still much data to come.

Deeply saddened to learn of the death of Professor Higgs. Higgs was a giant of theoretical physics. His work truly revolutionised our understanding of the universe at its most basic level. A brilliant mind and a wonderful person.

Last week I had the pleasure of visiting colleagues in Madrid to discuss how the UK and Spain can collaborate to advance STFC's science areas and help deliver on the aims of the UK Strategy for Engagement with CERN for the benefit of all member states: gov.uk/government/pub…

Met senior officials from the UN Office of Outer Space Affairs UNOOSA and the International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA - International Atomic Energy Agency ⚛️, joined by UK colleagues. Discussed topics from 'Quiet and Dark Skies' to nuclear fusion.

Just returning from CERN Council in Geneva. During lunchtime, the CERN DG and I signed a framework agreement between @STFC and CERN to collaborate on development of environmentally sustainable accelerator technologies - a hot topic for any new large collider project!
