Honoured to be invited to Prof Lemoineโs retirement as head of Barts Cancer Institute (Queen Mary) in the amazing Tudor great chamber at The Charterhouse where Queen Elizabeth 1st had her accession council! And be regaled by the typically dodgy ( but entertaining!) jokes of Nicholas Wright
Finally, we closed with Prof Nick Lemoine's Farewell Address, in which he reflected on the successes and challenges of the BCI over the past 20 years. Attendees gave Nick a standing ovation and raised a toast thanking him for his service as Director ๐๐๐ #BCIShowcase24

The day concluded with a fantastic keynote lecture from eriksahailab The Crick, who unpicked how the tumour microenvironment sculpts cancer invasion and therapy resistance. Thank you for joining us Erik! #BCIShowcase24
Our focus next shifted to Cancer Biomarkers & Biotherapeutics, and the Tumour Microenvironment. One highlight was hearing how we're studying London's incredibly diverse patient population to better treat people with cancer who are currently underserved. #BCIshowcase24
The showcase kicked off with sessions from our Centres for Haemato-Oncology and Tumour Biology. One common theme that emerged in both sessions was how we're working to better understand and target cancer metabolism to improve treatment. #BCIshowcase24
