An important milestone in ongoing efforts to provide better care for children in Ukraine: the ceremonial signing of a partnership agreement between UNICEF and the European Union to support child care system reform in Ukraine.

Reports of 5 children injured in recent attacks in Derhachi, Nikopol, and the Kherson region. An educational institution and 2 kindergartens were also reportedly damaged.

Nowhere is safe for children in Ukraine. Attacks must stop. Children and schools must always be protected.

I commend the Government of Tajikistan on the repatriation of 47 children and women from Syria yesterday.

Work for children continues despite air alarms. In a shelter, UNICEF Europe C.Asia Regional Director Regina De Dominicis and UNICEF Representative to Ukraine Munir Mammadzade discussed w/ Ministry of Health of Ukraine Minister Viktor Liashko health priorities, including MHPSS, child- & youth-centred recovery.

Children and young people are central to Ukraine's recovery. UNICEF Europe C.Asia Regional Director Regina De Dominicis met youth leaders in Lviv, the European Youth Capital for 2025, and the UNICEF Ukraine Youth Advisory Board. Youth engagement and development is a priority for UNICEF in Ukraine.
