Rikers is a humanitarian crisis & should have been closed a long time ago. Now, Mayor Eric Adams wants to stop funding groups like Osborne Association The Fortune Society and so many others that serve incarcerated people & fix government's failures. It is unacceptable.
I am deeply disturbed by this proposal that will make our communities less safe. Over 500 of my constituents were served by The Fortune Society in LIC last year. Fortune has built trust and transformative programs for 50+ years. I urge the Mayor to reconsider this irresponsible cut.
