Particularly unsettling is how the NYCDOE will roll out system-wide literacy changes, Special Education & Multilingual Learning initiatives...

Six months ago, I reached out to NYC Mayor's Office with an idea: What if we organized philanthropies & nonprofits to raise funds to help new arrivals?

Glad to see the idea become reality with Robin Hood & The New York Community Trust spearheading the coordinated effort.gothamist.com/news/2-major-c…

Over the next few weeks, thousands of migrant families will face the threat of eviction from New York City shelters.

These families already have rooms in shelter. City Hall is the ones kicking them out.

Housing is a human right! This 60 day rule CAN be changed! We don’t have to evict families from shelter. We CAN do right by our newest and youngest NYers. City Hall CAN reverse this policy!

Displacing kids from their schools in the middle of year. Kicking women who are eight months pregnant out of shelter.

City Hall's 60-day shelter limit rule is honestly one of the cruelest policies we've seen in generations.

Our investigation into its implementation is underway.

'A group of advocacy organizations also denounced the 60-day limits as harsh and destabilizing for migrants. The potential disruption to schooling could have disastrous effects on children, some educators have said' nytimes.com/2024/01/09/nyr…

“Placing asylum seekers in Floyd Bennett Field, despite the known significant storm risks, highlights the mismanagement & waste of money that is all-too-present in City Hall’s approach to shelter & services for asylum seekers.' Office of New York City Comptroller Brad Lander

New info on Floyd Bennett evacuation, families have made their way to James Madison HS on buses, and, no cots on site, people will try to sleep in chairs or on the floor

a mom described it as 'craziness.' they're slated to be bused back to tents at 5am.

Starting today, the City plans to evict thousands of immigrant families from shelters like The Row hotel, which have provided a small modicum of stability as our newest neighbors work to get on their feet.

This is the cruelest thing City Hall has done in generations.
