I loved Muriel. She was always so kind to me when I first got involved in politics here and always supported me.

I am saddened to hear of the passing of former Cllr and Hon Alderwoman Muriel Green BEM. Muriel believed in doing her best for local people and working hard - and the residents of Weetslade kept reelecting her. A lesson to all politicians. RIP Muriel.

42 years ago North Tyneside Council declared St Mary’s Island a nature reserve to protect wildlife and the environment. A bold move by the then Labour council, a lasting commitment to conservation and to attracting visitors to our fantastic coast.

In 2021 the Tories in Northumberland told voters that they had attracted thousands of jobs to the Blyth Estuary.

Three years on not one job created and the second company trusted to deliver slapped with a winding up order.
