Two more papers by Dixson and Munday get Editorial Expressions of Concern for raw data issues. These papers have previously been flagged as having unrealistic variance for fish behaviour.

have vanished from many shores in western Norway but thrive on floating docks. Climate change, pollution, or pathogens would not distinguish between these habitats. Could a crawling predator, such as Nucella lapillus, cause it?

Dim light environments in deep waters or below sea-ice explain the distribution of large copepods in the Barents Sea, temperature only a secondary driver.

the most powerful climate report of the decade was published on monday, after 195 governments fought over the words in its summary for policymakers, and the only media allowed in the room just published its account of who lobbied for what 1/

finland tried to say the root cause of climate change is fossil fuels, but saudi arabia pushed back, and the line didn't make it into the summary for policymakers (which is separate from the scientific report that can't be touched by governments) 3/

Today the sets off from the Falkland Islands to Antarctic waters for the Trials 🚢

The team are testing the new ship’s amazing technical capabilities as they work in concert - like an orchestra playing together for the first time.

Tonight, we identified, photographed, measured, weighted, bagged & tagged the 1st biological samples from a midwater trawl onboard . Lots of 🐟 🦐 & 🦑. This was the 1st trawl of a transect across Drakes Passage . Fantastic teamwork

Thick fog all around us today. Very different than yesterday's spectacular view of Elephant Island and the feeding frenzy of whales and penguins around the ship. Unimaginable that Shackleton and his man landed and survived on its rough shores for nearly 5 months

PhD opportunity with Neil Metcalfe, Mike Webster @mikemwebster.bsky.social, & myself. Why are some individuals within species more social than others? This seems to relate to energy demand, but does mitochondrial efficiency play a role? You could find the answer!
