Before and after trephination of my runners toe!

Amazing how even 6 DAYS after injury there was so much pressure and fluid build up. The relief was instant.

Whiplash (2014) came out ten years ago when I was 16, and I:

-had no dreams
-no direction in life
-had a unexplainable desire for achievement

Ten years later, I’ve fixed the first 2.

This movie is still the lit flame under me. I don’t play drums, but I will do what I need to.

Calling all runners, podiatrist/chiropodists, urgent/emergency docs:

5 days post marathon, subungual hematoma as maintained baseline pain, size and pressure. Minimal improvement. Resting everyday (except shift work), acetaminophen prn.

Best advice?

And that’s it! I’m hooked.

I wonder where I’ll donate the excess 27 minutes to, but here’s to finding out!

See you on the road.

2. I just let the race happen.

It was my first marathon! I had to leave the ego at the door. Weeks leading up people asked me my goal time.

“3:45” was my answer. My garmin estimated me at ~3:36.

Either way when I was at the starting block, I just let it happen!

1. I slowed the F down in my training.

In my early running days I found pace to be the goal, doing what I equate to binge drinking for pace.

In this training block I RESET!! Low and slow thanks to HR tracking and “Zone 2” hype.

4. ENJOY!

Toronto Marathon was beautiful. Exploring new neighborhoods of a city I thought I was familiar with.

A guy came from behind me @ 30km and said he’s been following me for 10km.

We beasted the thing together, refusing to let each other walk.

Evan you’re the MAN

You can say that…

But I think children benefit more from being taught by humans.

As someone who is teaching myself a degree, I would love this to help confirm concepts (I use text GPT for this reason).

But I can’t imagine sitting my kids in front of this.

“Fall in love with the expenditure of energy toward something that may or may not be on the correct path”

I have a full-time job that’s a great, fulfilling career.

I’m back in school full time because I simply think I can do more. We’ll see what happens.
