In the six years since we first recognized Maternal Health Awareness Day, we have made incredible progress towards addressing New Jersey’s maternal health crisis.

Today, I’m thrilled to share our next initiative: Family Connects NJ, our universal nurse home visitation program.

The maternal mortality rate for 2021 was 32.9 deaths/100,000 live births, for Black women the rate was 69.9 deaths/100,000 live births. Together, we can save maternal lives for Every Woman, in Every Hospital, Every Time.
